As many of you have already heard, the University has made the difficult decision to cancel 2020 Princeton Reunions. While sad that we will not be able to join together as in past years, the Class Executive Committee fully supports this decision as it protects all alumni, their families and guests, student workers and University personnel from the risks of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
You may be wondering what the status is with our planning for our 50th Reunion which is scheduled for Thursday May 20, 2021 through Sunday May 23, 2021. The broad elements of the 50th Reunion plan have been developed, presented, and agreed to by the 1971 Executive Committee. I already have recruited leaders for a number of key committees such as Finance, IT, Entertainment, Uniforms, Attendance Recruitment, Receptions, Alumni/Faculty Forums, Community Outreach, Yearbook and Class Poll, Beverages, and Meals. Other chair positions still need to be filled including Administration, Hotels and Housing, Transportation, Student Crew, etc. Each committee also needs volunteers. This is your chance to help shape our watershed event in advance. And, your suggestions are welcome! If you are willing to be part of this effort please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 484-919-2398.
We expect to announce the details and fees for our 50th Reunion by late summer 2020. So be on the lookout for both emails and occasional snail mailings about the Reunion including asking for your participation in the Yearbook and the Class Poll. We can assure you that we will offer you a weekend you won’t forget at a fair cost. So put May 20-23, 2021 into your calendar. We’ll see you there if not before.
Lastly and most importantly, the entire Executive Committee encourages all Class members to adhere to safe and secure health procedures for themselves, their families, friends, and neighbors. Social distancing and self-quarantining may make life a little lonely, so please use all social media tools available to reach out to others including your 1971 Classmates as personal contacts are reduced. We’re all in this together!
We extend all of our best wishes for your physical and emotional well-being. We look forward to the time when the coronavirus pandemic is behind us. All of us on the Executive Committee are excited to see you at the 50th Reunion celebration and at future class events as they are announced.
Roaringly from the best damn Class from the Best Damn Place of All,
Jack Hittson, Class of 1971 50th Reunion Chair
Class Executive Committee: Podie Lynch, Gary Walsh, Howard Zien, Mark Swanson, Stu Rickerson, Alan Usas, Bill Zwecker, Kathleen Molony, Rob Slocum
