Class of 1971
Homecoming, Saturday, November 14th
Events
Dear
Classmate,
45 years ago we were in our senior year at Princeton -- my how has time flown. But of one thing I am certain, the beauty of Princeton and the fun of a fall football weekend hasn't changed. So mark your calendar to join your Classmates and other alums on Saturday November 14th for Princeton's Homecoming celebration!
The Tiger footballers have gotten off to a great start with a 4-0 record, 1-0 in the Ivies and 3-0 against our traditional competition from the Patriot League. By the time of our mid-November Homecoming game against Yale on November 14th we will be in the stretch run in the team's quest for another Ivy championship.
The Class has two events scheduled for our Class members to gather together and enjoy each others' company, and the University has additional lectures and athletic contests that bracket the football game at 1:00 PM. We urge you and your family and friends to join us at our Class specific events, renewing our Class community bond, while hopefully also celebrating a win over Yale (revenge for losing to them our senior year). The fall in Princeton and gatherings with old friends, I'm not sure you could plan a better day in November!
Class and University events: We have two (2) 1971 Class events
scheduled that are FREE
to all:
- Alumni
tailgate: The Class will again be participating in the alumni Tiger Tailgate located in Fine Plaza from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the Yale football game. The event is sponsored by the Alumni Association (AA) and includes food, drink, and festivities. We will reserve a table area for the Class in the portion of the plaza near other classes from our era. If you wear some of our past Reunions gear it will be easier for everyone to identify each other. The plaza adjoins the stadium where the kickoff is 1 PM. To register go to the Alumni Association website, The event is FREE and registration by November 7th will help the AA in its planning of the event.
- Class
post-game reception: Starting at 3:30 PM the Class will host a FREE reception for all Class members, their families, and friends in the Class of 1971 Library on the second floor of the Tiger Inn. Refreshments, alcoholic and non- alcoholic, and finger food will be served. A crowd of about 50 have joined us the last few years. This year we will be joined again by the Class of 1959 in a joint reception. It is a great ending to a terrific day. Join us for the festivities!
- Fall Football Lectures are hosted by the Alumni Association and presented by a select group of faculty. These hour-long programs provide alumni and members of the community with a chance to sample intellectual life on campus prior to catching up with friends at tailgates and cheering on the Tigers on the gridiron. Lectures are free and open to the public. For information on the lectures use this link.
- Other activities: Partake of other activities like club and intercollegiate sports, and departmental and student group activities (see University listings for specifics) over the full weekend.
So mark your calendar and register for the Tiger Tailgate at Homecoming on November 14th. Be at our Class tailgate and post-game reception at the Tiger Inn. It will be a day of friends, football and fun.
Also don't forget to mark your calendar to attend our 45th Reunion celebration over Memorial Day weekend, May 26-29, 2016. You can register on the Class website, princeton71.org, starting in early November!
Homecoming and Reunions will be ROARINGLY great events!
See you on November 14th ,
