SAVE the DATE - Class of 1971 50th Reunion

It is hard to believe, but we are less than a year from celebrating our 50th Reunion. It will be a great time made even greater after so little social interaction in these last few months. Our 50th will take place earlier than in past years -- and is scheduled for Thursday May 20, 2021 through Sunday May 23, 2021. Please add this event to your calendar NOW as it will be the highlight of our 2021 social season!

Yearbook and Class Poll

The first activity of our 50th Reunion is our Class Yearbook and Poll. Chris Connell, who spent his career in journalism, and Ray Ollwerther, recently retired and long-tenured editor of PAW, volunteered to lead this effort. In July, they will kick off this project by sending out an email detailing what the Yearbook and Class Poll will entail. This will include the need for you to fill out a short biographical sketch and complete the Poll by early fall. The quality of the Yearbook depends on the breadth of participation from as many of you as possible. 100% participation is the goal!

The personal essays and photos will be the heart of the Yearbook. All submissions will be entered through our website, princeton71.org. So make sure you are registered.

Another important section will be topical articles from various classmates. For example, Greg Conderacci is going to edit an article profiling a group of 10-12 “favorite professors” from our undergraduate days. He is looking for recommendations of your favorite professor with 2-3 paragraphs detailing the “why” you believe that professor deserves the recognition. We want the group to span a breadth of interests - so submit your suggestions directly to Greg at gc@goggc.com or to Chris at CVConnell@gmail.com or Ray at wromove@gmail.com. 

50th Reunion Details and Registration Instructions

We will announce the details of the 50th Reunion and the Registration information via email in August. In addition, the Reunion details and registration form will be included in Podie Lynch’s kick off President’s letter scheduled for early September. We will be asking those classmates who have yet to provide us with an email address and/or are not registered on our website to do so immediately so they can fully participate in all Yearbook/Poll and Reunion activities. To initiate access to the Class website including your personal profile, just point your web browser to princeton71.org and follow the instructions at the right under “Join This Site!” to create an account.

Be on the lookout for coming emails and snail mailings regarding our 50th Reunion and your participation in the Yearbook and the Class Poll. We can assure you that our 50th Reunion will be an event that you will treasure. So put the dates of May 20-23, 2021 into your calendar NOW and look forward to an event of a lifetime!

Recent Princeton University News Regarding 2021 Reunions

You may have heard that the University gave 1970 and 1995 the okay to celebrate their 50th and 25th at Reunions 2021. The Class of 2020 also will return for their on campus graduation celebration. Your Class of 1971 Reunions leaders were early champions of these decisions. As you can imagine with two 50th Reunions, two 25th Reunions, and two graduating classes all in attendance, the Reunions 2021 experience will be more festive than usual.

Our Class is talking with 1970’s leadership to see where and how the two classes can work together to make 2021 Reunions even better. These conversations are being coordinated with the Alumni Council, as the level of resources needed from the University to field a successful – and likely much larger and more complex – 2021 Reunion will be more challenging than ever. Be assured that your Reunions Committee is working tirelessly to adjust our plans to deliver a 50th Reunion that meets the high standards you have come to expect from the Class of 1971.
